Week of Jan. 22nd

It is hard to believe that January will be over with this upcoming week!  The Monkeys have been working hard and having fun!

We really enjoyed learning about following pictorial directions in language arts this week.  We followed directions through pictures to make "bear snacks" since we finished up our non-fiction unit on hibernation, migration and adaptation.  The students loved spreading the Nutella on the bread as the bear's fur, placing 3 banana slices as the ears and nose and placing 3 chocolate chips on it for the eyes and nose.

The Monkeys have also been very excited each week to get to meet with their third grade reading buddies!  It is definitely one of the highlights of their week to get to read with the "big kids."  Some students read in my classroom and some go upstairs to the 3rd grade classrooms.  Soon they will switch and get to go upstairs if they have not yet this year.

We are also back to our weekly superstar students for this half of the school year.  This week the Monkeys were excited to learn all about our superstar student, Mila!  We got to hear all about her life and interests.

Next week, we are excited to learn all about our next superstar student, Grace!
